The Causal Path between Future Goals and Learning Engagement of Vocational School Students:A Longitudinal Tracking Study
"The confusion of future goals"and"insufficient learning investment"are two major chal-lenges faced by vocational school students.Whether goal setting promotes learning engagement or clarifying goals through continuous learning engagement is also a long-standing educational dilemma for vocational school teachers.Based on this,a cross lagged model was used to track future goals(including internal and external goals)and learning engagement of 417 vocational school students for a period of six months,in or-der to examine the causal pathways between them. The results indicate that there are unidirectional and bi-directional causal pathways between different future sub goals and learning engagement. There is a gender difference between boys and girls in terms of"action driven goal oriented"and"goal driven action orient-ed".Based on this,in future educational practice, firstly,it is necessary to strengthen the positive effect of internal goals on student engagement in vocational schools and weaken the negative impact of external goals. The second is to expand learning channels, enrich practical forms, guide students to be enthusiastic and engage, gradually understand themselves through investment, clarify future goals, and continue to in-vest in it.Thirdly,it is necessary to create more collaborative learning content and interactive practical proj-ects between men and women,so as to develop the"gender differentiation"model of"goals and investment"into"gender complementarity",and efficiently promote the growth and success of vocational school students.
