Vocational undergraduate education,as a key link in the vertical integration of modem vo-cational education system with Chinese characteristics,is an important support for cultivating composite and innovative technical and skilled talents. The professional group is a key lever for vocational undergradu-ate colleges to optimize their professional structure in response to the requirements of industrial transforma-tion and upgrading. To clarify the formation mode of professional groups in vocational undergraduate colleg-es,a multi case study method was used to analyze the existing professional group formation modes in China. It was found that there are mainly three types of professional group formation modes:industry driven,re-source sharing, and policy driven.Among them, the industry driven model is mainly achieved through serv-ing regional industries and connecting with job groups. The resource sharing model is mainly achieved through the construction of a shared curriculum system, peer sharing of teaching teams, and sharing of in-ternship and training bases. The policy driven model is mainly achieved through the coordinated planning of the central government and the promotion of local government coordination. To better promote the con-struction of professional groups in vocational undergraduate colleges,we should strengthen top-level design at the macro level and create a good external environment; At the meso level, clarify the logic of grouping and reasonably layout the specialties within the group;Strengthening connotation construction at the micro level and solidifying the key elements of talent cultivation process.
