How does the United States Achieve Vocational Curriculum Integration in Higher Education?——Take Bergen Community College and Berkeley College Curriculum Integration System as an Example
The integration of courses is essential for combining vocational education with higher edu-cation.This article examines the curriculum integration system between Bergen Community College and Berkeley College in the United States and utilizes qualitative research methods to analyze the types,goals,and content of the integrated courses between the two colleges.The study delves into the specific meanings of different types of curriculum integration between community colleges and undergraduate colleges in the United States.The findings indicate that:(1)General courses at community colleges have more course cred-its,goals,and content than undergraduate colleges;(2)Professional courses at community colleges have slightly higher course objectives and content compared to undergraduate colleges;(3)Major courses at com-munity colleges have the same course credits and content as undergraduate colleges.Based on these results,the study proposes relevant opinions and suggestions for integrating vocational and undergraduate curricu-lum systems in China.
