Cross-Sectional Study of Knowledge,Attitude and Practice Regarding Antimicrobial Use among Children's Parents in a Medical Institution in Henan Province
Objective:To discuss the situation of children's parents'knowledge,attitude and practice regarding the antibacterial use in a medical institution in Henan Province so as to provide reference for medical institutions in formulating management policies of antimicrobials.Methods:A cross-sectional investigation of the rational use of antimicrobials in parents of hospitalized children in a medical institution in Henan Province from October to December in 2020 was conducted,and the data were statistically analyzed.Results:Among 289 participants,the overall performance regarding the parents'knowledge about antimicrobial use was good.The sex,education level,health insurance status,the number of children,monthly income and place of residence were most intimately associated with the scores obtained by the parents regarding the knowledge of antimicrobial use(P<0.05).The overall parents'attitudes towards antimicrobial use were qualified.The scores of the parents'attitude to antimicrobials were affected by monthly income,sex,education level,medical insurance status and age(P<0.05).The overall performance regarding the practice about the parents'antimicrobial use was good.The factors influencing the scores of practice about parents'antimicrobial use included education level,sex,age,relationship with their children,and medical insurance status(P<0.05).Conclusion:Although the parents of children in this medical institution held positive attitude and took actions in terms of the antimicrobial use.However,some parents still lack sufficient understanding of antimicrobial drugs and even still have misconceptions about the use of antimicrobial drugs.The medical institutions should strengthen the propaganda and education about antimicrobials among children's parents so as to improve the rationality of antimicrobial use in children.
