Role of Pharmaceutical Consultation in Promoting Rational Drug Use Based on 115 Adverse Drug Reaction Reports
Objective:To evaluate the occurrence of adverse drug reactions(ADRs)and to explore the practice of promoting rational drug use by pharmaceutical consultation through clinical pharmacists'pharmaceutical care for patients. Methods:A total of 115 ADRs reported by clinical pharmacists to China National Center for ADR Monitoring from 2016 to 2022 were collected and retrospectively analyzed for their types, gender and age of patients, types of drugs involved, route of administration, onset time, recovery time,organs/systems involved and clinical manifestations, pharmaceutical consultation suggestions, association evaluation and outcome. Results:Among the reported ADRs,the incidence in male patients(50.43%)was comparable to that in female patients(49.57%),but was high in the elderly patients over 60 years old(53.04%);There were a total of 43 drugs from 14 categories involved;ADRs were most frequently caused by anti-infective drugs(86.12%);the incidence of moderate ADRs was the highest(85.22%);there were 17 serious ADRs,14 of which were attributed to anti-infective drugs;in terms of route of administration, intravenous drip accounted for the predominant ADRs(82.61%);ADRs mostly occurred within 24 hours to 1 week post-dose.The recovery time was mostly 24 hours to 1 week after the occurrence; The main organ/system involved by ADRs was skin and its appendages(25.74%);the main recommendation of pharmaceutical consultation is to stop the suspected drugs(85.22%);the outcome of ADRs was either recovering or recovered. Conclusion:Clinical pharmacists should carry out pharmaceutical consultation, perform pharmaceutical care, and strengthen the identification and monitoring of ADRs to promote clinical rational drug use and ensure medication safety among patients.
