Research Progress in the Mechanism of Chinese Materia Medica and Its Active Components for the Treatment of Postmenopausal Osteoporosis
Postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP)is one of the diseases caused by metabolic disorders of the skeletal system in postmenopausal women, which is prone to fracture during the onset of the disease and is characterized by a long treatment period, side effects of the first-line therapeutic drugs, prolonged and difficult to recover, and a serious decline in the quality of life, etc.Clinical manifestations of PMOP are mainly pains of the lower back and multiple joints of the limbs, occasionally accompanied by deformity of the trunk, generalized fatigue, abdominal discomfort and other symptoms. This article mainly elaborated that Chinese materia medica and its active components can promote osteoblast differentiation and osteogenic effects by regulating signaling pathways and activating the expression of key protein molecules in related signaling pathways, correct iron overload, regulate the intestinal flora, and play the effect of oestrogen to reverse the destruction of bone microstructure, improve bone mineral density, and balance the homeostasis,so as to achieve the improvement of bone metabolism and immunity, and then play a role in the treatment of PMOP,which could provide a reference for further research on the mechanism of PMOP treatment by Chinese materia medica and its active components.
