Meta-analysis on the Efficacy and Safety of Moxibustion for Post-stroke Dysphagia
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of moxibustion in the treatment of patients with post-stroke dysphagia using Meta-analysis.Methods Random controlled trials(RCTs)about moxibustion in the treatment of patients with post-stroke dysphagia were retrieved from CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP,CBM,Web of Science, the Cochrane Library,PubMed,and EMbase from the establishment of the databases to June 30,2023.Data were analyzed and the results were visualized using R language version 4.3.0 packages such as meta and metafor. Results Totally 20 RCTs were included, involving 1 579 patients. The results showed that the total clinical effective rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group[RR=1.20,95%CI(1.14,1.25),P<0.000 1];the experimental group was superior to the control group in reducing the Wada drinking water test score[MD=-0.90,95%CI(-1.05,-0.76),P<0.000 1],increasing the VFSS score[MD=1.81,95%CI(0.83,2.80),P=0.000 3],reducing the SSA score[MD=-4.26,95%CI(-5.14,-3.38),P<0.000 1],increasing pharyngeal lateral wall mobility[MD=0.06,95%CI(0.02,0.10),P=0.002 8],and reducing the incidence of complications[RR=0.45,95%CI(0.32,0.62),P<0.000 1].Conclusion Moxibustion is remarkably effective in treating individuals with post-stroke dysphagia and can dramatically lower the risk of sequelae. However, due to the quality limitations of the included studies, more high-quality and well-designed studies are still needed in the future to support this conclusion.
