Abstract

There is certain correlation among type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),and hyperuricemia(HUA).Insulin resistance, oxidative stress, and damage to the intestinal barrier are present in the development of all three ailments. These three conditions share a similar physiological and pathological basis. In TCM,the co-morbidity of T2DM,NAFLD and HUA is explained through the pathogenesis of turbid toxicity trapping spleen. There are syndromes of dampness, phlegm, turbidity, toxicity, and blood stasis as contributing elements. The general rule for treatment involves strengthening the spleen to resolve turbidity and detoxify. Therefore, there are similarities in the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment of these three diseases in TCM.This article is based on the theory of"treating different diseases with the same treatment"explores the internal correlation between T2DM,NAFLD and HUA,in order to achieve early prevention, early diagnosis and early treatment in clinical practice.
