Visualization Analysis on Research Literature about TCM Toxicology Based on CiteSpace and VOSviewer
Objective To understand the research history, current status and hot frontiers, development trend of TCM toxicology by visualizing and analyzing the relevant literature in the field of TCM toxicology in China; To provide reference for the research of TCM toxicology. Methods The literature related to TCM toxicology was retrieved from CAJD,Wanfang Med Online,VIP,and SinoMed from the establishment of the databases to April 15,2023,and NoteExpress 3.7.0 was used to perform the literature de-emphasis and manual screening.Excel 2003 was used to analyze publication time of included literature.CiteSpace 6.2.R5 was used to conduct keyword co-occurrence,clustering,timeline,and emergent analysis. Results A total of 2 086 articles were included, with an overall increasing trend in the number of publications.A total of 641 journals,1 702 research institutions, and 6 270 authors were involved, including 245 core authors, forming research teams represented by Sun Rong,Gao Yue,Peng Cheng,Huang Fanghua, and Miao Mingsan. The research institutions were concentrated in China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences,National Medical Products Administration,Beijing University of Chinese Medicine,Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, and Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.A total of 521 keywords were included, and the keywords with higher frequency and intermediary centrality were Chinese materia medica, adverse reaction, toxicology, acute toxicity, rat, and clinical application;16 keyword clusters such as instruction manuals, toxicology, and clinical application were formed;there were 17 emergent keywords, and hepatotoxicity, mechanism, and molecular docking were the main hotspots of the current research. Conclusion The research in the field of TCM toxicology has been increasing year by year, and its development prospects are promising, and it is still necessary to strengthen the cooperation between different research teams and organizations. In recent years, the research hotspots focus on hepatotoxicity, mechanism, molecular docking, etc.Intelligent prediction and assessment of TCM toxicity, and the prevention and control of the risk of clinical application are the possible research trends in the future.
