Visualization Analysis on Research Literature about the Acupuncture and Moxibustion for the Treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome from 2013 to 2023
Objective To investigate the research status, hotspots, and development trend of acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)from 2013 to 2023 through bibliometrics. Methods Relevant literature on acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for IBS from January 1,2013 to June 30,2023 was retrieved from CNKI,Wanfang Data, and VIP databases. The publication year and journal of the included literature was analyzed,CiteSpace 6.1.R2 was used to draw a co-occurrence map of authors and institutions, and keyword clustering,co-occurrence,and emergence analysis were conducted. Results A total of 896 articles and moxibustion about acupuncture treatment for IBS research were retrieved.Core journals with the highest publication output in this field included Chinese Acupuncture,Shanghai Acupuncture Journal, and Acupuncture Research.Sun Jianhua was the most prolific author.Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine had the highest publication output, while Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Tianjin University of Chinese Medicine had the highest centrality. The most common keywords were"acupuncture and moxibustion therapy","acupoint stimulation","electroacupuncture","review","diarrhea-predominant type","diarrhea","moxibustion","treatment","warm acupuncture"and"intestinal microbiota".The top five keywords with high burst strength were"diarrhea"(2013-2016),"embedding thread at acupoints"(2018-2019),"Ziwu flow injection"(2015-2017),"data mining"(2020-2022)and"intestinal microbiota"(2021-2023).Conclusion Acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for IBS predominantly focuses on electroacupuncture, moxibustion, and warm acupuncture. The research themes in this field are transitioning from efficacy evaluation to exploring underlying mechanisms, with intestinal microbiota emerging as a novel and popular biological research mechanism. Moreover, enhanced collaboration among different research teams is recommended to promote innovation and development in this field.
