Analysis on Geological Characteristics of Mineralization and Deposit Genesis of the Mashan Cobalt Ore in Pingxiang City
The Mashan Cobalt Ore in Pingxiang City is a cobalt polymetallic deposit with great potential discovered in recent years,it belongs to the western section of the Pingle Depression and has a multi-level and large-scale tectonic superimposed mineralization geological background. After field geological investigation and drilling verification,a thick and large cobalt ore body is discovered in the mining area, the apparent thickness of the ore body is 53.50 m,the true thickness is 34.39 m,the average Co grade is 0.05%,and the highest Co grade is 0.15%.The ore body mainly exists in the structural breccia and sandstone on the unconformity surface of the Yangjiayuan Formation in the Lower Carboniferous and Anyuan Formation in the Upper Triassic.Through comprehensive analysis of the genesis of the deposit,it is determined that it is an oxidized leached sedimentary deposit with the participation of tectonic fracture zone hydrothermal circulation and alteration.Based on the geological characteristics of mineralization,a four in one mineralization model is established to guide mineral exploration, providing a theoretical basis for mineral exploration in the area.
