Study on the Extraction Process of Nickel and Cobalt from Limonite Type and Serpentinite Type Laterite Nickel Ores
The composition of laterite nickel ore is complex, with low nickel and cobalt content, the main types are limonite type and serpentinite type. The experiment uses different processes to leach two types of laterite nickel ores,in order to extract nickel and cobalt. The limonite type laterite nickel ore is treated using a mixed acid maturation-water leaching process. The experimental results show that when the mass ratio of sulfuric acid to laterite nickel ore is 1.84,the leaching rates of nickel and cobalt both exceed 97%,and the higher the acidity, the higher the leaching rates of nickel and cobalt;whether it is mixed acid maturation before leaching or direct pulping and acid leaching, the effect on the leaching rate of nickel and cobalt is not significant;during the leaching process, adding a reducing agent can increase the cobalt leaching rate to over 96%,and the addition of a reducing agent is beneficial for cobalt leaching, but has little effect on nickel leaching.Serpentinite type laterite nickel ore is treated using the atmospheric pressure preleaching-pressurized leaching process. The experimental results show that when the total acid ore ratio is 0.53~0.58 t/t ore,the leaching rates of nickel and cobalt both exceed 74%,at this time, the iron content of the pressurized leaching solution is about 5 g/L,and the residual acid content is 15~21 g/L.
