Preparation and Properties of Cationic Self-crosslinking Styrene-acrylate Polymer and Its Modified ASA Emulsion
In this study, cationic self-crosscrossling phenyl-acrylic polymer(ASA)was prepared by aqueous solution copolymerization using 2-methacryloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride(DMC),acrylamide(AM),styrene(St),butyl acrylate(BA),and N-hydroxymethyl acrylamide(NMA)as copolymers. The results showed that the dosage of functional monomer were 9.5%DMC,2%NMA,and the optimal mass ratio of ASA to cationic self-crossbiphenyl propylene polymer was 4.5∶1.The modified ASA scaler had excellent dispersibility and sta-bility.Using cationic starch and bauxite as dual retention agents, the pH value of the slurry was 6.5,the amount of modified ASA emulsion(relative to hardwood pulp)was 0.15%,and the sizing degree of the paper was 92 s.Compared with base paper, the folding resistance, tearing index, tensile index and ring pressure index were increased by 41.2%,38.3%,45.6%and 58.7%,respectively.When the dosage of calcium carbonale was 15%~20%,the modified ASA emuslion had a good sizing effect and was suitable for neutral sizing.
