Application of Bjorkman Number on Hardness Detection for Low-lignin-content Pulps
This study compared the common points and differences in determination parameters between Kappa number,Permanganate num-ber and Bjorkman number, analysed the advantages of Bjorkman number application on hardness monitoring for low-lignin-content pulps, and introduced the improvements in determination parameters of the company of Bjorkman number for the low-lignin-content pulps. The fea-sibility of the optimisation scheme was presented in terms of concentration and acidity of the solution,solid-liquid ratio of sample to reagent, reaction time and method repeatability. The 10-batch unbleached manila hemp detection data showed that the Permangate number was be-tween 3.5 and 4.2,with a fluctuation range of 0.7.The Bjorkman number was between 23.4 and 28.2,with a range of 4.8 which showed the Bjorkman number had better sensitivitj for low lignin content pulps.
