Study on Effects of Performances and Structures of Glass Fiber Filter Paper on Water Coalescence and Separation in Aviation Kerosene
In this study, glass fiber filter papers were prepared through wet forming method and the surface wettability was modulated by im-pregnation of reinforcing resin, which were applied to the agglomeration separation of contaminated water from aviation kerosene. The effects on the separation performance of contaminated water in aviation kerosene,by analysing the surface wetting property and structural character-istics such as thickness and pore size of glass fiber filter paper were investigated, and the oil-water separation performance of glass fiber filter paper before and after the composite with glass fiber mat was compared. The results showed that single-layer glass fiber filter paper with rein-forced resin film water contact angle of 44°,thickness of 0.53 mm,and pore size of about 3.0 μm,had superior water coalescence and sepa-ration performance.Additionally,double-layered structure glass fiber filter paper with pore size of about 3.0 pm and 5.0 μm,respectively, could further enhance its water separation performance.Furthermore, the combination of developed glass fiber filter paper with glass fiber mat could effectively improve the water coalescence and separation performance. The downstream free water content after filtering jet cool could be as low as 41.0 mg/L.
