Objective Sex cord-stromal tumors (SCST) are a rare group of primary ovarian tumors that are diverse in type and morphology.Immunohistochemical staining and special reticulin staining play a crucial role in assisting diagnosis. However, using either immunohistochemical staining or special staining alone often proves time-consuming and laborious in identifying tumor cells, leading to diagnostic challenges. This study aims to enhance diagnostic efficiency and accuracy through the use of combined staining techniques. Methods This study employs a combination of immunohistochemical staining and reticulin staining to assist in diagnosing SCST.To achieve better staining results,we have adopted the immunohistochemical red staining method in place of traditional color development methods. Results In specimens processed with the dual-staining technique, immunohistochemically positive tumor cells appear red, while reticulin fibers are black, offering a vivid and distinct contrast. Conclusion In diagnosing ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors, using immunohistochemical red staining combined with reticulin dual staining clearly reveals the relationship between retic-ulin fibers and tumor tissue, and visually displays the type and distribution of tumor cells. This method enhances diagnostic accuracy and is worthy of broader clinical application.
