Progress of Research and Application of Lignin in Soil Improvement and Remediation
Lignin with polar groups such as phenolic hydroxyl, alcoholic hydroxyl, and carboxyl groups can be used to improve the efficiency of plant nutrient utilization in soil due to its high complexing properties. It also can improve soil agglomerate structure, and increase soil en-zyme activity.Besides, lignin can adsorb and remove pollutants in soil through ion exchange and complexation interactions, and induce mi-crobial degradation of organic pollutants, thus playing a role in remediation of contaminated soil. The principle of lignin in soil improvement and remediation were summarized in this paper, and the application effect of lignin as soil conditioner, sand fixer and pollutant adsorbent were described. Finally, the progress of research and application of lignin in this field was summarized, and corresponding suggestions were proposed for its future development.
