Corrosion behavior and mechanism of magnesium rare earth-based alloys
The addition of rare earth elements to magnesium alloys will form a long-period stacking or-der(LPSO)structure,and the existence of this special second phase can significantly improve the me-chanical properties and corrosion properties of magnesium alloys. The early research on magnesium alloys focused on the study of mechanical properties, and the influence of the microstructure of magnesium al-loys on their corrosion properties was not further understood. The role of LPSO phase in the corrosion process of magnesium alloys needs to be further studied. In general, the factors influencing the corrosion behavior of magnesium alloys containing LPSO phase mainly include magnesium alloy matrix, alloying elements, processing technology, type, volume fraction and distribution of LPSO phase.
