Characteristics of highly-cited papers published in Chinese Journal of Trauma between 2013 and 2022
Objective To conduct bibliometric and visual analyses of highly-cited papers published in Chinese Journal of Trauma(hereinafter termed as the"Journal")between 2013 and 2022 so as to offer directions for both clinical and basic researches of trauma and manuscript collections of the Journal.Methods A literature research was performed using the VIP Chinese Journal Database to identify all papers published in the Journal from January 2013 to December 2022,and the data was up to June 4,2024.The papers with frequency of citation ≥20 times were identified as highly cited in the Journal based on the percentage method and limited frequency method.The highly-cited papers published in the Journal in the past 10 years were generally recorded and analyzed from the perspective of the general situation,proportion of funded papers,publication time,co-authorship degree,core group of authors,publication affiliations,column distributions and research directions,and keywords.Results During 2013 to 2022,2 388 papers were published in the Journal,among which 234 papers were identified as highly cited,with the total number of citations reaching 6 409 times.The highly-cited papers of the Journal were manifested as follows:(1)Proportion of funded papers:The funded papers accounting for 44.44%(104/234),including 22 papers being supportd by National Natural Science Foundation of China.(2)Publication time:In 2013,2016 and 2019,the quantity of highly-cited papers was the largest,with 34 papers each,and the total number of citations was also the highest.High citation was mainly within 5 to 11 years after the publication.(3)Co-authorship degree and core group of authors.In regards to the core-authorship degree,the papers were largely completed by 4 to 8 peoples,with original clinical articles to be the most common type at the same time.Moreover,the total number of citations was the highest when the number of authors was 5.The core authors were those who published at least 3 papers,accounting for 33,and most of them were academic leaders or corresponding authors.(4)Affiliations:There were 62.39%(146/234)of the papers completed by single affiliation,26.50%(62/243)of the papers completed by two affiliations,and 11.11%(26/234)of the papers completed by 3 or more affiliations.(5)Columns and research directions:The columns were mainly composed of 165 original clinical articles,followed by 18 reviews,17 short articles,15 academician or expert forums,10 editorial articles,and 8 consensuses and guidelines,but there was only 1 basic research article and no case report.The research directions of the top 20 highly-cited papers were trauma surgery(8 papers),trauma nursing(6 papers),risk prediction of poor prognosis in trauma(3 papers),treatment of post-traumatic bone infection(2 papers),and trauma first aid and prevention(1 paper).(6)Keywords:There were 33 frequently used keywords,such as"fracture fixation,internal","spinal fractures","vertebroplasty","osteoporotic fractures","lumbar vertebrae","thoracic vertebrae","craniocerebral trauma","spinal cord injuries","tibial fractures".Conclusions Of the highly-cited papers published in the Journal over the past 10 years,more than 2/5 of the papers are funded;there is a certain correlation between quantity of highly-cited papers and publication time;the majority of the papers are completed by multiple authors from 1 to 2 affiliations;partial columns contributes substantially to the total citation frequency;the research areas should attach great importance to the osteoporotic spinal fractures,hip fractures and craniocerebral trauma.
