Objective To investigate the relationship between bone mineral density(BMD),serum estrogen level in different stages of physiological cycle in female patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV).Methods From February 2020 to February 2022,80 female patients with BPPV(study group)were treated at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery,Second Affiliated Hospital of Ningxia Medical University/First People's Hospital ofYinchuan, and 92 healthy women(control group)were enrolled to tested of their lumbar vertebrae(L1-L4)bone mineral density and serum estradiol levels in the premenopausal, perimenopausal and postmenopausal ages.Re-sults Bone mineral density in the study group at all ages was lower than in the control group(P<0.05).Bone mineral density in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women in both groups was lower than in premenopausal women(P<0.05).Serum estradiol levels demonstrated just the opposite patterns(P<0.05).Conclusion Estradiol levels and bone mineral density should be tested in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women with BPPV to reduce the recurrence of BPPV and avoid osteoporosis.
