Objective To explore a new training model of temporal bone anatomy and ear surgery. Methods A systematic anatomical study of porcine cadavers was conducted to optimize the anatomical procedures and evaluate the feasibility of using porcine cadavers as anatomical training specimens. The miniature pigs were simulated to perform ear surgery and optimize the operation simulation process in vivo. Results The structures of miniature pigs'middle and in-ner ears were similar to those of human. The temporal bone specimens of miniature pigs could be used for junior doc-tors'anatomical training of the temporal bone. And the miniature pigs could be used for middle and inner ear operation in vivo training, providing an in vivo animal model for the surgical training of ear surgeons. Conclusion Miniature pigs can be used in the training of temporal bone anatomy and in vivo surgery simulation, which has teaching value in the training of ear surgeons.
