Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of same day endoscopic middle ear surgery. Methods Clinical data of 604 patients undergoing endoscopic middle ear surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from February 2021 to February 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into a same day surgery group(n=257)and a hospitalization group(n=347),and time of hospital stay, postoperative facial palsy,ver-tigo,tinnitus,time to dry ear,air-bone gap,air-conduction threshold and patient satisfaction were compared between the two groups.Result Time of hospital stay in the same day surgery group was shorter than that in the hospitalization group(P<0.05),with no significant difference in postoperative vertigo, tinnitus and time to dry ear(P>0.05)and im-proved ABG in both groups(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the rate of hearing improvement,tympan-ic membrane healing and postoperative ABG between the two groups(P>0.05).There were also no significant differenc-es in patient ratings of nursing service, interactions with surgeons, quality of care and overall satisfaction the two groups(P>0.05),although admission process and discharge guidance ratings were higher in the same day surgery groups than in the hospitalization group(P<0.05).Conclusion Same day endoscopic middle ear surgery can shorten the length of hos-pital stay and improve patient satisfaction without compromising treatment efficacy and safety.
