Objective To review the main characteristics of aeromedical evacuation(AE)for the eye injuries of US military in wartime,and to propose suggestions for the construction of professional AE teams,treatment considerations and specialized training assessments for our military.Literature resource and selection Works related to war trauma,as well as domestic and foreign research papers and reports in this field.Literature quotation Thirty-one literatures were cited,including 2 works and 29 papers.Literature synthesis Eye injuries in wartime are characterized by severity,high incidence and diversity.Open globe injuries and orbital syndrome are the two most common types of eye injuries in wartime.It is necessary to correctly judge the injuries according to the classification of injuries,reasonably grasp the treatment indications and time of various injuries,and make preparations for the early stage in AE.In view of the changes in cabin pressure and flight altitude,the treatment of some eye injuries needs attention.The US military characterizes with clear medical responsibilities,joint medical team,and multiple AE specialty centers to guarantee the speed and efficiency of rescue.The US military experiences on the management of ophthalmic AE rescue team,specialized classification of evacuation and comprehensive practice for ophthalmic professionals provide us with helpful references.Conclusions It is recommended to improve the construction of the AE system for eye injuries,including establishing a professional team,clarifying the injury types and timeliness,standardizing rescue equipment and drugs,and strengthening the training and assessment.
