Curative Effect Analysis of Low-Dose Glucocorticoids Combined with Theophylline on Elderly Asthma
Objective To evaluate and analyze clinical effect of theophylline drugs and low-dose glucocorticoids for elderly asthma patients. Methods The paper chose 80 elderly asthma patients admitted to our hospital as study subjects, with time distribution boundary from January to December 2022.40 cases in reference group were treated with routine budesonide inhalation treatment, remaining 40 cases in experimental group with combination therapy of low-dose glucocorticoids and theophylline.Clinical treatment effect, incidence of adverse reactions, and eosinophil percentage, peak expiratory flow rate, first second forced expiratory volume test results, and life quality scores levels were compared and analyzed between two groups before and after treatment. Results ① Experimental group had treatment effect rate of 97.50%(39/40),higher than reference group of 80.00%(32/40),with comparative difference(P<0.05).② Experimental group had higher overall level of adverse reactions of 5.00%(2/40)than reference group of 22.50%(9/40),with significant difference(P<0.05).③ After treatment, results of various tests in both groups were significantly higher, percentage of eosinophils in experimental group was significantly lower than control group, results of the other two tests were significantly higher, with significant difference(P<0.05).④ After intervention, experimental group had better life quality scores than control group, difference was significant,(P<0.05).Conclusion During treatment of elderly asthma,low-dose glucocorticoid drugs combined with theophylline drugs can achieve ideal curative effect and improve symptoms effectively including breathing difficulties, sputum, and cough, with relatively high treatment safety, which can improve living standards of patients.
