Effect Exploration of Night Shift on Immune Function of Medical Staff
Objective Medical staff have to work night shifts for a long time, their physical health is worrying. The paper detected various immune indicators of medical staff before and after night shifts, explored effect of night shifts on immune function,to provid theoretical support for improving physical health of medical staff. Methods The paper recruited 20 frontline medical staff working in emergency department of our hospital from January 2022 to January 2023,with half male and half female, blood samples to test various immune indicators(IgA,IgG,IgM,C3,C4,CD3+T lymphocytes,CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes,CD3+CD8+T lymphocytes)before and after night shift, and carried on statistical analysis with paired t-tests.Results Immune indicators before and after night shift were within the normal range,P<0.05.There was no statistically significant difference in five immune indicators of IgA,IgG,C4,CD3+T lymphocytes, and CD3+CD8+T lymphocytes before and after night shift. However, there was statistically significant difference in three immune indicators of IgM,C3,and CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes before and after night shift.Compared with before night shift, average decrease of IgM and C3 after night shift was 0.07g/L and 0.08g/L respectively, average decrease in CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes was 2.26%.Conclusion Night shift can reduce immune indicators of IgM,C3,CD3+CD4+T lymphocytes in body of medical staff, inhibit and damage cellular and humoral immune functions. However, rest can help them recover, night shifts have mild and reversible effect on immune function of medical staff.Long-term and repeated decline may be one of important reasons why medical staff are in a sub healthy state.
