Effect of Improved Beck Oral Scoring System for ICU Patients with Oral Tracheal Intubation and Mechanical Ventilation
Objective To explore effect of improved Beck oral scores for critically ill intensive care unit(ICU)patients with oral tracheal intubation and ventilation. Methods The paper chose 59 ICU patients with oral tracheal intubation and ventilator admitted to our hospital from September 2020 to September 2022 as study subjects, and divided them into two groups with random number table method.29 cases in traditional group were treated with routine nursing intervention, while 30 cases in improvement group with improved Beck oral cavity scores based on traditional group.Incidence of oral odor, oral hygiene, and incidence of complications were observed between two groups groups. Results After 1 day,3 days, and 5 days of intervention, oral odor scores of improvement group was lower than traditional group(P<0.05).After 3 and 5 days of intervention, both groups showed improvement in bad breath, plaque index, and soft scale index, that of improvement group was lower than traditional group(P<0.05).Incidence of complications(gingival bleeding, aspiration, oral ulcers, and ventilator-associated pneumonia)in improvement group was 2/30(6.66%),lower than traditional group(9/29(31.01%)(P<0.05).Conclusion Improved Beck oral scores can improve oral hygiene status of ICU patients with tracheal intubation and ventilator effectively, can reduce oral odor and complications.
