Application Value of Enteral Nutrition Emulsion in Enteral Nutrition Support for Elderly Critically Ill Patients
Objective To study application effect of enteral nutrition emulsion in enteral nutrition support for elderly critically ill patients.Methods The paper chose 60 elderly critically ill patients with high risk of malnutrition and inability to eat orally admitted to our hospital from January 2020 to May 2023,and divided them into control group(26 cases)and observation group(34 cases)with random number table method.Control group was treated with enteral nutrition support through home made homogenate meal nasal feeding,while observation group with enteral nutrition support through enteral nutrition emulsion nasal feeding.Results Observation group had higher upper arm muscle circumference,triceps brachii skin fold thickness,and body weight than control group(P<0.05).Albumin,prealbumin,and total protein of elderly critically ill patients in observation group was higher than control group(P<0.05).Effect of elderly severe patients in observation group were higher than control group(P<0.05).The levels of procalcitonin and C-reactive protein of elderly critically ill patients in observation group were lower than control group(P<0.05).Total incidence of abdominal distention,diarrhea,constipation,retention,gastrointestinal bleeding and tube blockage in observation group was lower than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Enteral nutrition emulsion has significantly better application effect in enteral nutrition support for elderly critically ill patients than homemade homogenized meals,which has more promotional value.
