Curative Effect Comparison between Intramedullary and Extramedullary Fixation for Elderly Patients with Intertrochanteric Fractures of Femur
Objective The results of intramedullary fixation and extramedullary fixation were compared and analyzed in the treatment of elderly patients with intertrochanteric femur fractures. Methods A total of 75 elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture of the femur treated in Shuyang Nanguan Hospital during the period of January 2022 to May 2023 were divided into two groups, including the control group and the observation group, using randomized numerical table. In the control group,37 patients were treated with extramedullary fixation. In the observation group,38 patients were treated with intramedullary fixation.Comparison of clinical indicators, hip function(Harris)scores, and the occurrence of complications between the two groups. Results In the observation group, the operation, postoperative weight bearing of the affected limb, hospitalization and fracture healing time were shorter than that of the control group, and the intraoperative bleeding was less than that of the control group, with a more obvious difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Hip function(Harris)score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and there was a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).The complication rate of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and there was a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Intramedullary fixation treatment has obvious therapeutic effect on elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture of the femur, which can shorten the time needed for clinical procedures, reduce intraoperative bleeding, improve the function of the hip joint, and reduce the occurrence of complications, which is worthy of wide-scale popularization and implementation in the clinical treatment plan.
