Characteristics Analysis of Patients in ICU of A Tertiary Hospital in Guangzhou
Objective To analyze disease composition and distribution characteristics of patients in ICU of a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou,and provide a basis for clinical work in ICU.Methods The paper reviewed and analyzed data of 479 patients in intensive care unit of a tertiary hospital in Guangzhou from January 1,2021 to December 31,2021,including gender,age,admission route,disease diagnosis,acute physiology and chronic health status scores Ⅱ(APACHE Ⅱ)within 24 hours of admission,and other information.Results Among 479 patients,there were 290 males and 189 females,with average age of(66.37±16.52),proportion of elderly people aged 60-74 was the highest(35.30%).Main source of patients was the general ward(58.04%).Top 5 diseases were nervous system,digestive system,respiratory system,circulatory system,and tumors.Out of 479 patients,279 were transferred back to general ward of our hospital after condition being improved,and 88 patients died in the intensive care unit.APACHE Ⅱ scores of patients died in the intensive care unit were higher than those with other destinations,difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Majority of patients admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital are elderly internal medicine patients;those transferred to the emergency and specialized care units have critical conditions and poor prognosis;APACHE Ⅱ scores are correlated with prognosis of patients.
