cGAS STING is a signaling pathway related to immunity and inflammation discovered in recent years,which is composed of a new DNA recognition receptor cGAS,interferon stimulating factor STING,and the intermediate second messenger cGAMP.The kidneys with high metabolic rates are closely related to the signaling pathway.Recent studies have shown,cGAS STING plays an important role in chronic kidney disease,development of drugs targeting the pathway is a focus of attention for scholars.The paper systematically elaborates on composition and activation mechanism of the cGAS STING signaling pathway,and its role in chronic kidney disease,and makes prospect to significance of the cGAS STING pathway in treating kidney disease.
