Research on Health Care Needs and Countermeasures of Elderly in Sichuan Province in New Era
Objective To investigate health care needs of elderly people in Sichuan Province and propose countermeasures and suggestions,to provide reference basis for tailored elderly care service policies and promote development of elderly care service in Sichuan and Southwest China.Methods 420 elderly people in Sichuan Province were selected as the sample of this study,and the health care needs of the elderly were analyzed by using the questionnaire(designed by the research investigation team of the health care needs of the elderly of the Western Nursing Alliance),and the implementation countermeasures were studied.Results Among 420 elderly patients,326(77.6％)were completely independent,and the average score of self-care ability in daily life was(91.69±20.01),12.4％were mildly dependent,6.2％were moderate,3.8％were severe.Top five health care needs of elderly were self-development and contribution(24.27±8.51 points),protection and safety(12.76±4.61 points),knowledge(8.42±2.95 points),mental and psychological support(8.28±3.01 points),and specialized nursing(8.28±6.43 points).Scores of health monitoring needs of urban elderly were higher than rural elderly(P＜0.05).Conclusion The elderly in Sichuan province have a high demand for health care.The elderly health care system can be optimized from the top design,aiming at the healthy,sub-healthy and disabled elderly,popularizing healthy life,preventing chronic diseases,maintaining health,early intervention,nursing and so on.In response to the aging of the population,the formation of joint efforts to develop elderly care services,and give full play to the role of social entities,enterprises,local governments and individuals;Build more effective personnel training and sustainable security policies,and standardize the elderly health care talent market to improve the quality of health care for the elderly.
