Objective The 5-day storage of platelets poses a challenge to inventory management. The paper analyzed collection, supply, and dispensing data of apheresis platelets,to manage platelet inventory better and dynamically. Methods The paper retrieved data of platelet collection, supply and platelet dispensing from 2018 to 2023 in the unit computer system. Results During the 6-year period from 2018 to 2023,fluctuation of collection and supply of apheresis platelets from the first to the 12th month remained basically consistent, and overall blood collection in the region could meet clinical blood needs. The paper set daily inventory of apheresis platelets of doses Ⅰ~Ⅲ based on different blood types and regulated inventory dynamically. From 2018 to 2021,the daily average collection and usage of platelets gradually increased. From 2019 to 2021,the daily collection exceeded clinical usage, and collection volume could meet clinical needs well, and platelets being transfered out exceeded those transfered in. Daily average collection volume in 2018,2022,and 2023 was lower than daily clinical usage volume, which could not fully meet clinical blood needs. Platelets being transferred in exceeded transferred out. Conclusion Platelet inventory management involves clinical appointment and distribution, donor appointment and collection, and platelet dispensing. Dynamic regulation of three aspects can ensure platelet inventory, and effective inventory management can ensure sufficient supply of platelets and prevent scrap, and maintain flexibility during demand fluctuations.
