Objective To observe the effect of metformin combined with hormone therapy on obese PCOS and BMI and sex hormone levels. Methods The paper chose 80 obese PCOS patients in the obstetrics and gynecology department of Dongguan City Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital from January 2020 to January 2023,and divided them into the single medication group and the combination medication group in a 1∶1 ratio. The monotherapy group was treated with yasmin, while the combination therapy group with oral metformin sustained-release tablets for 6 menstrual cycles. Effective rate of treatment of two groups was recorded, serum sex hormone level was detected with chemiluminescence method, ratio of luteinizing hormone (LH)/serum follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) was calculated, and ovarian function was detected with vaginal ultrasound examination. Results After treatment, the BMI value, serum LH,testosterone (T),prolactin (PRL) levels, and LH/FSH value were significantly lower in the combination therapy group, curative effect was significantly higher,(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in serum FSH levels between two groups (P>0.05). The number of follicles in the combination therapy group was significantly fewer, volume of ovaries on both sides was significantly smaller, maximum follicle diameter was significantly larger (P<0.05). Conclusion Combination therapy can achieve good clinical effect for for obese PCOS,can improve BMI and hormone levels, restore ovarian function of patients, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
