Objective To investigate the current situation and to analyze the influencing factors of coping ability with death among nursing interns in emergency department.Methods A total of 217 nursing interns who practiced in the emergency department of a Grade III hospital in Henan Province,Shaanxi Province and Gansu Province from August 2022 to April 2023 were selected as the study objects by convenience sampling method.Nursing interns were investigated by the Meaning in Life Questionnaire,Coping with Death-Short Version Scale and Chinese version of Death Attitude Profile-Revised.Results 93.5%of the valid questionnaires were collected.The score of coping ability with death among the nursing interns in emergency department was(37.99±8.50)points.The ability of emergency nursing interns to cope with death was in the lower middle level.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that whether the school provided death education or hospice course,whether supported living will,sense of life meaning,and approach acceptance were the influencing factors for the coping ability with death of nurse interns in emergency department(P<0.05).It explained 29.8%of the total variation.Conclusion The coping ability with death of nursing interns in emergency department needs to be improved.Clinical teaching should make up for the relative deficiency of death education in schools,guide them to think deeply about death events and cultivate a positive attitude toward death,and explore the sense of meaning of life based on traditional Chinese culture,so as to improve their coping ability with death.
