Objective To explore the difference between individual normal and malocclusion patients in terms of whole-mouth tooth wear, analyze the pathogenesis of tooth wear in different malocclusions,so as to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of tooth wear and etiological research. Methods A total of 59 cases of individual normal occlusion and 189 cases of malocclusion who treated in our hospital from February 2019 to May 2022 as the study subjects, which were divided into individual normal occlusion group and malocclusion group. The malocclusion group included 61 cases of Angle Class Ⅰ,66 cases of ClassⅡ1 and 62 cases of Class Ⅲ.The Wear of incisal edge and occlusal surface of each Tooth was examined, and the Smith Tooth Wear Index(TWI)indexing method was used to record one by one,and the wear differences among all groups were statistically analyzed. Results The anterior teeth wear of all kinds of malocclusion were more serious than that of individual normal occlusion group, and the wear of class Ⅲ was more serious than that of class Ⅰ and Class Ⅱ1(P<0.001),and the wear of classⅠwas more serious than that of classⅡ1(P<0.001).Premolar:The wear of individual normal occlusion anterior molars were all lighter than all types of malocclusion, the wear of Angle ClassⅡ1 was more severe than Angle Class Ⅰ and Ⅲ(P<0.001),and the wear of Angle Class Ⅲ was more severe than Angle Class Ⅰ(P<0.001).Molar:Molar wear was higher in all the Angle types of malocclusion group than the individual normal occlusion, and the wear was lower in Angle Class Ⅰ than in Angle ClassⅡ1 and Ⅲ(P<0.001),the difference of molar wear in Angle Class Ⅱ1 and Ⅲ malocclusion was not statistically significant(P=0.282).Conclusion Malocclusion is one of the risk factors for the onset of tooth wear, and the wear of Angle Class Ⅲ anterior teeth and Angle Class Ⅱ1 anterior molars is more severe, and the wear of both Angle Class Ⅱ1 and Ⅲ malocclusion molars is more severe than that of Class Ⅰ.People should give more weight to these.
