As the aging of the population intensifies,oral health problems of the elderly become increasingly prominent.Studies have found that patients with poststroke cognitive impairment(PSCI)have decreased oral care ability and increased the risk of oral diseases.The inflammatory factor of periodontal disease have adverse effects on cognitive function.At the same time,tooth loss was positively correlated with the prevalence of cognitive impairment,and restoration of masticatory function was conducive to the improvement of cognitive function.Therefore,targeted oral care interventions for PSCI patients can not only prevent oral diseases but also promote the improvement of cognitive functions,which is of great significance for improving the quality of life among the elderly population.This article aims to explore the relationship between PSCI and oral health,propose personalized oral care plans,and improve the oral health of the elderly,thereby enhancing their overall health level.
