Research progress on the relationship between vision impairment and dementia
Vision impairment and dementia are both age-related chronic diseases with high incidence rates.They are major causes of disability in the elderly and bring a heavy burden to patients,their families and society.In this paper,the relationship between vision impairment and dementia,the possibility that different degrees of visual loss affect the risk of dementia,and possible mechanisms linking the two diseases are examined,with the aim to raise the attention of clinicians and researchers to patients with dementia and vision impairment and to advocate early intervention,thus achieving individualized and comprehensive management of dementia and improving the quality of life of patients with dementia.
