Research progress on the molecular mechanisms of exercise training delaying age-related cognitive decline
With increasing age,the morphological structure and function of the brain will undergo degenerative changes, leading to cognitive decline and affecting the ability to perform activities of daily living and quality of life.Exercise is essential for the prevention and treatment of cognitive decline and can effectively delay age-related cognitive decline. The possible mechanisms of exercise for delaying aged-related cognitive decline involve neurotrophic factor-mediated hippocampal neurogenesis, reduction of hippocampal tau protein hyperphosphorylation, slowdown of cerebral atrophy, increased cerebral blood flow, and other effects.Exercise can also suppress inflammation by regulating intestinal metabolites, thus exerting its effects on delaying age-related cognitive decline.
