The interaction between autophagy and pyroptosis and the underlying mechanisms
Various forms of cell damage, such as apoptosis, necrosis, pyroptosis, and autophagic damage, appear under stress caused by many diseases. As an important physiological mechanism for maintaining cellular homeostasis, autophagy is closely associated with cellular damage caused by various diseases, whereas pyroptosis is a new mode of programmed cell death dependent on inflammatory cysteineases(mainly caspase-1,4,5,11)and accompanied by the release of large amounts of pro-inflammatory factors, and is widely involved in the development of various diseases.According to a large number of studies,it has been demonstrated that autophagy and pyroptosis have many common molecular pathways, which can regulate each other and play a significant role in a variety of diseases.Autophagy and pyroptosis have a complex relationship.Based on available research, the article summarizes the links between autophagy and pyroptosis in different disease states and the regulatory mechanisms involved,to clarify the relationship between autophagy and pyroptosis and to offer a new perspective for the prevention and treatment of related diseases.
