A tool for identifying hospitalization-related disability in elderly patients
Early identification of older adults at high risk for hospitalization-associated disability(HAD)is crucial for implementing timely interventions that can reduce hospital stay,medical costs,complications,and prevent further physical dysfunction.Various HAD screening tools have been developed,with some already validated and used in clinical trials,while others are still in the preliminary exploration stage.This review offers an overview of HAD identification tools,summarizing their applicability,key characteristics,advantages,disadvantages,and the latest advancements.The aim of this review is to provide information that can assist in the early and accurate identification of high-risk patients with HAD,enabling the implementation of appropriate and targeted interventions for older adults in China.
