Enhanced recovery after surgery promotes a series of perioperative optimization measures aimed at minimizing the psychological and physiological stress associated with surgery and anesthesia.These measures are designed to reduce complications,facilitate rapid postoperative recovery,and decrease both the length of hospital stay and associated costs.Elderly surgical patients often present with unique and individualized pathophysiological states during the perioperative period due to the presence of multiple comorbidities and medications,in contrast to younger patients.Consequently,it is crucial to select appropriate individualized rapid rehabilitation strategies during the perioperative phase,rather than relying solely on general rapid rehabilitation concepts.The recent advancements in the rapid rehabilitation of geriatric surgical patients are summarized as follows.
