Sarcopenic obesity in the elderly:Etiology,diagnosis,and treatment strategies
The evidence regarding the detrimental impacts of sarcopenic obesity on the health and functionality of the elderly is steadily accumulating.The identification,prevention,and treatment of sarcopenic obesity are of significant importance for enhancing the quality of life and prolonging the lifespan of older adults.However,there remains a lack of universally recognized diagnostic criteria and treatment approaches for this condition.This article provides an overview of the etiology,diagnostic criteria and processes,as well as feasible intervention strategies for managing sarcopenic obesity in the elderly,aiming to establish a systematic basis for the early identification and effective management of older patients affected by this condition.
