Effects of different proportions of red and blue light on morphological development and metabolism of ascorbic acid and reactive oxygen species in cherry seedlings
In order to explore the mechanism of response of development and antioxidant enzymes activity and metabolism of ascorbic acid and reactive oxygen species in cherry seedlings to the combination of red and blue light. The LEDs as light sources were used in this study with 6 treatments including red light(0%B),blue light(100%B)and combinations of red and blue light(15%B,20%B,30%B,50%B),white light as control, and the effects of different proportions of red and blue light on the development, total ascorbate pool, ascorbic acid metabolism-related enzymes, accumulation of reactive oxygen species and scavenging ability of reactive oxygen species in cherry seedlings('Luying 3')were studied. The results showed that red light could promote stem elongation and leaf expansion of cherry seedlings, the ascorbic acid content, dehydroascorbic acid content, total ascorbate pool and antioxidant enzymes activity of cherry leaves under the treatments of red light, blue light and the combination of red and blue light were higher than cherry leaves under the treatment of white light control. The increase of blue light percentage(15%~50%)was more beneficial to the increase of antioxidant capacity of cherry leaves, and reduced peroxidation damage of ROS to membrane lipids, but the blue light(100%B)caused relative increase of accumulation of ROS and malondialdehyde content in cherry leaves. The blue light(100%B)was not conducive to the stability of physiological metabolism of cherry seedling leaves.
