Effects of mechanical pruning times and interval on photosynthesis, berry yield and quality of'Cabernet Sauvignon'grape
8-year-old'Cabernet Sauvignon'grape were used to study the effects of pruning times and interval on photosynthesis, berry yield and quality.Under the premise of the same cannopy thickness, the treatments of three pruning times(2,3 and 4 times)and two pruning interval(the secondary shoot length reaching 15~25 cm and 25~35 cm)were set.The results showed that the net photosynthetic rate of leaves, panicle weight, berry yield, reducing sugar content of berry, total phenols and anthocyanins content of pericarp increased with moderate increase of pruning times, and the highest value was obtained when pruning 3 times;the titratable acid content decreased, with the lowest value being obtained when pruning 4 times;the sugar-acid ratio increased, with the highest being pruned 4 times, but there was no significant difference between pruning 4 times and pruning 3 times. And,the increase in pruning times slowed down the decrease in photosynthetic rate as the growth period. The photosynthetic performance of leaves was enhanced, and the content of reducing sugar in fruit, total phenols,flavan-3-nols and tannin in pericarp were significantly increased when the secondary shoot length reached 15~25 cm compared with 25~35 cm;the panicle weight, berry yield, and total anthocyanins content increased, but there was no significant difference between pruning interval treatments. In summary, the better mechanical pruning method in the south of Shanxi Province was pruning 3 times when the secondary shoot length reaching 15~25 cm which could accelerate photosynthetic characters of leaves, increase the berry yield, reducing sugar content and phenol content of grape.
