Study on the effect of shading on photosynthetic characteristics of wax apple
Shading is a key technique in regulating the production period, but the impact of shading on the growth and photosynthetic characteristics of wax apple needs further research. In this experiment,'Yinduhong'wax apple was used as the experimental material, and 70%shading treatment was conducted to induce flowering. The rate of new shoot emergence and the length of new shoots were regularly recorded. The net photosynthetic rate, environmental temperature, leaf temperature, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, and intercellular carbon dioxide concentration of the leaves were measured periodically. The results indicated that the 70%shading treatment significantly reduced the length and emergence rate of new shoots. In addition, the effects of shading on the rate and length of new shoots in different terminal states of wax apple were also different. We also found that shading with a shade net can control the environmental temperature and leaf temperature of wax apple plants to some extent.Furthermore,70%shading reduced the photosynthetically active radiation of wax apple plants, inhibited the transpiration rate and net photosynthetic rate of the leaves, reduced stomatal conductance, and decreased intercellular carbon dioxide concentration. In summary, the shade-promoting cultivation technique for wax apple is a cultivation method that can enhance economic benefits. It can suppress the vegetative growth of wax apple, promote nutrient accumulation, and effectively utilize light energy.
