The banana production areas of Fujian Province are mainly distributed in the Zhangzhou City,and the main cultivars include Musa AAA cv.'Tianbaogaojiao',Musa AAA cv.'Tianbao'aijiao',MusaAAAcv.'Brazil',Musa AAA cv.'Red Green',Musa ABB cv.'Chaijiao'and Musa ABB cv.'Pisang Awak'."Tianbao banana"is a national geographical indication(GI)product,including Musa AAA cv.'Tianbaogaojiao'and Musa AAA cv.'Tianbao'aijiao',and their planted areas are covered more than 80％of the banana cultivation area in Fujian Province.The"Tianbao banana"is famous for its characteristics of thin peel,soft and delicate flesh,and rich in aroma,which is deeply favored by consumers at home and abroad.However,in recent years,the cultivation area and production of banana has been declined sharply,so the banana industry has been shrunk significantly in Fujian Province.Therefore,this paper reviewed the current situation and bottlenecks of the development of banana industry,and put forward suggestions to revitalize the development of banana industry and to help rural revitalization in Fujian Province.
