摘要

本文从两<唐书>中"士大夫"一词的使用及其意义入手,认为"士大夫"一词在唐初多指门阀士族,后来主要指称"熟诗书、明礼律"的官员.士大夫在唐代并没有形成一个有固定特色的阶级.社会对他们还没有比较统一的认识和要求.社会舆论的主要担当者是"士君子".到宋代,"士大夫"不再指门阀士族,甚而成了士族的对立面.宋代的"士大夫"具备了唐代"士君子"所具有的操守和左右舆论的能力,成为一个成熟的有自己固定特质的阶级.
