Bromhexine hydrochloride is a classic expectorant.In the field of human medicine,bromhexine hydrochloride is mainly used for patients with sticky sputum caused by chronic bronchitis and asthma.In the field of veterinary medicine,it is widely used to treat respiratory diseases of cattle,pigs,poultry,dogs,cats and other animals with mucociliary clearance disorder and mucus production.Bromhexine hydrochloride is easy to absorb,safe and can be used with antibiotics.In this paper,the mechanism of action,pharmacokinetics,toxicology and clinical research of bromhexine hydrochloride were summarized,which could provide reference for basic research and clinical application of bromhexine hydrochloride in veterinary medicine.
