Determination of chitosan in textiles by spectrophotometry
Chitosan in textiles was hydrolyzed to glucosamine under high temperature and strong acid.Glucosamine was derived into purple-red substance by two-step method. The purple-red substance was detected by spectrophotometry so as to determine the content of chitosan in textiles. The hydrolysis conditions and derivatization process of chitosan in textiles were optimized. It was found that hydrolysis temperature had great influence on the determination of chitosan. The results showed that the absorbance value of the purpline red substance produced by the derivation reaction had good linear relationship with the concentration(R2=0.9987),and the detection limit of chitosan was 15.6 mg/kg.The relative standard deviation of this method is 5.04%,and the recovery is in the range of 85.32~97.36%,which can meet the requirements of daily detection.
