Study on the natural variation law and influencing factors of quality indexes during cotton storage
The quality indexes of cotton will undergo natural variation during storage, which will lead to the decline of cotton quality and affect the subsequent textile production. In this paper,a 14-month follow-up test was conducted on nine quality-related indicators of cotton stored in Xuzhou Library and the data were statistically analyzed. It was found that the storage time would significantly affect the average length of the upper half of the cotton, length uniformity index, breaking strength, elongation at break, yellow depth, spinning uniformity, and sugar content. The color grade of cotton will significantly affect the length uniformity index, yellow depth, spinning uniformity, average length of the upper half, elongation at break and sugar content. The storage position of cotton bales will significantly affect the breaking strength and sugar content. In addition, this study found that the relative humidity and indoor temperature in the cotton storage environment had significant effects on the average length of the upper half, length uniformity index, breaking specific strength, yellow depth, spinning uniformity, and sugar content. The relative humidity has a significant effect on the change of reflectivity. The changes of micronaire value and elongation at break were not significantly affected by temperature and humidity.
